ESL Teacher, First Choice American School, Chaochou, Taiwan, 1998-2001
Full-time teacher for all levels of children and adults in varying class sizes in an English language school. Responsible for curriculum and resource development for several texts, including tests and teaching aids, and for promotional materials to increase the student base.

Head of Business Department, MacKenzie High School, Linden, Guyana, 1995-1997
Senior administrator and teacher of Accounting and Business Studies to high school national examination classes. Successfully developed a resource library of texts, exams, lesson plans, and other teaching materials for use by teachers and students. Responsible for the re-creation of a functioning Business Department which greatly improved the examination results of the students. Extracurricular activities included training the school swim team for competitions. This was a two year volunteer position through Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO).
 
Designer and teacher of ESL High School Preparation course, Halifax, Canada, 1994
Successfully designed and taught, as a volunteer, a YMCA-sponsored High School Preparation course for young immigrants. This course involved all aspects of advanced ESL courses including lesson plans, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary building, and specific course material.

Volunteer assistant teacher to Advanced English as a Second Language class.
 
Tutor of ESL and Reading, Halifax, Canada, 1993-1995
Volunteer tutor at a local elementary school. Teachers required assistance with remedial reading and immigrants’ language barriers. I worked with 1 to 3 children each year, designing learning programs to teach English and reflect their current class curriculums. The children varied in age from 7 to 12 years and English ability from no familiarity to basic conversation and reading.

Responsible for all functions of the office including supervision of three full-time and one part-time staff and temporary help, all accounting functions for a $1,000,000+ yearly budget which include: banking, billings, automated payroll, accounts receivable and payable, monthly and yearly financial statements, budget and audit preparation, and maintenance of a sixteen vehicle fleet. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
